NIC is the perfect tool for collecting images from newsgroups.
Newsgroup Image Collector
Newsgroup Image Collector (NIC) is the perfect tool for collecting images from Usenet newsgroups.
NIC can search one or more newsgroups for images by scanning each posted message. When a message
contains image content, the image is downloaded to your computer.
You control which newsgroups to search and you can filter out unwanted images by using advanced filter settings.
Usenet is a collection of user-submitted notes or messages on various subjects that are posted to news servers.
Each subject collection of posted notes is known as a newsgroup. There are thousands of newsgroups, many of which contain
simple text messages, and others contain images posted as attachments.
Using NIC will help you find images for creating reports, web sites, documents, or sending emails to friends.
Please be aware that you must abide by any copyright notification found on groups or images.
Using NIC is simple! First you will create a new collection by entering the address of a (NNTP) news server. Next you select
from a searchable list the groups you wish to scan. Finally, must tell NIC where to save images and you are ready to go.
Optional advanced features let you filter your image search by using a variety of different methods. You can filter message subjects
by keywords to allow or ignore certain images. You can filter images by width, height, file size, and file extension to skip
thumbnail images or large space wasting images. You can save your images in one main directory or you can build a directory
tree for a visual guide to where each image came from.
You can share your images with friends quickly by using the built in email wizard. Simply highlight the images to send, click on
the email button and share images with anyone.
You will always have the latest update with our built in software update service. NIC includes free access to our update
service which can upgrade your software with new features. The service will check for updates every 24 hours and will alert
you if new updates are available. You have complete control of this feature and you can leave it on, or you can disable it
and manually check for updates when you desire.
The update service is free and is part of both the trial version and full version.
NIC does not contain spyware or adware, and it will never monitor your searching or downloading activities.
NIC does not create or use a log file of places visited, nor will it store cookies or a history of visited groups.
All images are downloaded to your computer in the location that you specify.
NIC can be used for free up to 15 days. During the trial period, you can test drive NIC as a full featured
product to see if you like it. After 15 days, the product will no longer function
and you must activate it to continue using it.
To obtain the full version of NIC, you must purchase a product license.
A product license is for a single user on a single computer and will unlock the
trial version of your product into a full version. The license is valid for the lifetime
of the product and it never expires.
After you purchase a license, you will receive a license key.
Simply copy and paste this key into the activation area of the program to complete the activation.
