Newsgroup Image Collector can be configured using advanced settings to skip and exclude articles based on a variety of rule filters. When an article is skipped, the image content (if any) will not be downloaded to your computer.
To configure NIC to exclude articles, you need to edit an existing image collection or select the use advanced features checkbox when creating a new image collection.
This is where you control the filter of including or excluding articles and their images based on one or more keywords. The keywords can be free text such as the word 'puppies' and every time an article is found, the article author is compared to the keywords in the filter list.

Some people who post images on newsgroups may send hundreds or thousands of images to the newsgroup server. You may find that you like some images from certain posters, so why not get them all?
To get started, set the filter to 'Include only listed items'. Next click the add button and type in the email address of the article poster. Now the next time you run the image collection, you should see articles only from your specified author.

Usenet articles are organized by groups, however people who post articles may not always stick to the categories. And sometimes the groups may contain images that are not in your interest.
To get started, set the filter to 'Exclude only listed items'. Next click the add button and type in the keyword or regex. Now the next time you run the image collection, you should see images from articles that do not contain your specified keywords.
